When She Looked, She Saw Evidence of Her Power.

"I have never pulled this report up at all."

She was talking about her Profit and Loss statement. We were looking at it together for the very first time.

I want to tell you how we got there, because it did not happen by accident and it did not happen because I pushed. It happened because over the course of our work together, something in her had shifted enough to make looking feel possible. And for a woman who had spent over a decade running a business without ever once opening this report, possible was everything.

I walked her through it with care and no judgment. Two women sitting together in front of a screen, one of them seeing her own business clearly for the first time in over a decade, and the other one holding the space for whatever came up when she did. I showed her where to go, how to pull the report, how to change the date range, how to double click a line item and ask what is this. Simple things that nobody had ever thought to show her before, not because they did not care, but because nobody in her financial world had ever thought that this part of the work was their job.

It is my job. It is the whole job.

And then the numbers came up on the screen. I showed her how to pull up the full twelve years in one snapshot, and she did it herself. I wanted her to see all of it at once, not just where she was, but where she had started, how it had grown, what the whole journey looked like laid out in front of her. All of it right there, in black and white, more than she had ever allowed herself to fully see.

Multi-millions. Built entirely on her own.

I watched her take it in, and I thought about the belief she had carried for most of her life, the one she had finally spoken out loud a few sessions earlier. I am afraid I cannot do it alone without a man or a partner. That belief had been running silently in the background of every financial decision she had ever made, every client she had undercharged, every proposal she had almost dropped the price on before catching herself, every season she had white-knuckled her money instead of trusting what she had already built. And then the numbers came up on the screen. They did not argue with that belief. They simply made it impossible to hold any longer.

She had done it alone, for over a decade, and the proof was right there on the screen in every line of a Profit and Loss statement she had never once pulled up before that day.

She did not spiral or glaze over or look away. She leaned in and started asking questions. What is this line item. Why is this categorized here. What would happen if we moved this. She was genuinely, openly, freely curious in a way that would have been completely unrecognizable to the woman who got on a session with me months earlier, the woman whose face I watched go tight the moment I mentioned her Profit and Loss, the woman who described herself as an ostrich with her head in the sand, the woman who said she wanted to get in the game and have fun with her numbers and got chills all over her body when she said it, because some part of her already knew it was possible and had just been waiting for permission to believe it.

That woman and this woman were the same person. And the distance between them was not years of therapy or a complete personality overhaul. It was a few months of doing the work that actually needed to be done, the work that most financial professionals are not trained to do and honestly never think to offer.

The work we did together was not financial work, not at first. It was the work that had to happen before the financial work could mean anything, the excavation of the beliefs, the naming of the patterns, the slow and careful process of helping her feel safe enough to look. And then, when she was ready, the numbers.

That is the sequence most people get backwards. They go straight to the spreadsheet and wonder why it does not stick. They hire a bookkeeper and a CPA and assume that covers it. They look at the numbers once, feel overwhelmed, close the tab, and tell themselves they will come back to it later. And later never comes, not because they are lazy or irresponsible, but because the nervous system was never part of the conversation.

She is not the same woman who sat across from me on that first Financial Clarity Session and could not open her Profit and Loss out of fear, anxiety, and what I can only describe as literal panic. The woman who opened QuickBooks that day, who double clicked line items and asked questions and stayed curious all the way to the end of our session, that woman knew something she had not known before. Not because I told her. Because she finally looked. And what she found was not judgment. It was not confirmation of her worst fears. It was not proof that she had been doing it wrong. It was evidence of everything she had already built, sitting there quietly in a report she had been too afraid to open for over a decade.

If her story has stayed with you across this series, if you recognized yourself somewhere in these five articles, in the freeze before the numbers, in the anxiety over a healthy account balance, in the belief that you cannot do this alone, in the protection strategy that made complete sense once and is now quietly costing you, I want to have a conversation with you. Not about your spreadsheets, not about your bookkeeper or your CPA, but about you and what is actually standing between you and the financial clarity your business has earned.

That conversation starts with a Financial Clarity Session, a free twenty minute session I offer to women business owners who are ready to find out what is possible on the other side of this. And don’t worry, if you are not ready to pull up your Profit and Loss statement in that session, that is completely okay. We will get there together.

You can book yours at AudreyFaust.as.me/FinancialClarity.

This series was never just about one woman’s journey. It was about the pattern I see in women business owners every single day, capable, accomplished, deeply self-aware women who have built something extraordinary and are ready to see it clearly. And the woman who finally does it discovers something she did not expect to find on the other side of that fear. The confidence and clarity she needs to run her business like the CEO she always knew she was meant to be.

The only CFO-trained strategist who works with financially phobic women business owners at $200K to $2M+, creating the clarity, confidence, and profitability that turns them into financially powerful and profitable CEOs.
