One of my clients had a multi-six figure business, which actually makes her part of the top 5% of all women owned businesses, and by all standards she was successful. She had been in business for over ten years, serving as a leadership coach for small business owners. Her methodology has changed businesses and lives. She had a small team and was doing it, a business most women dream of, except for one thing.

She had a huge nagging fear around her numbers. In over ten years, she had never, not once, pulled up her Profit and Loss statement. She didn't even really know how to do it, and even if she did pull it up, she knew she'd have an immense level of anxiety around it, even more than when she pulls up her bank statement. She could not bring herself to do it. Even if she could, she would have no idea what she was even looking at.

And to her surprise, I was able to show her how her numbers could empower her. When she realized that over the span of her business she had brought in over $2.5 million, she was elated, filled with excitement instead of fear.

And bonus, all the anxiety she felt every time she pulled up her bank account is also gone.

And instead of ignoring her bookkeeper, she started reaching out to her, asking questions and asking her to make changes and adjustments. Even her bookkeeper said, "I've been waiting for you to get here."

Here is what I want you to take from her story. The fear was never really about the Profit and Loss statement. It was her nervous system trying to protect her from what she believed it might say about her and about her business. And once a woman can see her numbers as only "information" instead of a verdict or a judgment, everything about how she leads her business begins to change.
